This week The Girlfriends hosted a luncheon for their girlfriends who love the Joffrey Ballet and jewels. Our friend Giovanni Mattera, brand ambassador for de Grisogono jewelry, shared some fabulous baubles with us and made a hefty donation to the ballet. Gratitude. Speaking of glamour, in this case very little glamour, the gowns of the Emmys were a big disappointment this year. Mostly wiener pile misses with startlingly few exceptions. The Emmys as a show was wonderful. We love us some Neil Patrick Harris ( so knew he was a gay angel when he starred in Doogie Howser). We especially loved our friend Michael Douglas’s acceptance speech for Behind the Candelabra. A made for TV film that no one would touch except HBO starring Michael Douglas and Matt Damon. The girlfriends reviewed the film last spring and Shauna filled us in on what amyl nitrate was!
Why are we wearing gowns to a television award show? I’m thinking if there is ever a podcast award show we just go with sweats- upgrade to a lulu lemon. Maybe even a Stella McCartney sport ensemble.
I wish television would get its groove on. We are not the Oscars or Toni’s – who are we TV?! Figure it out already!
Here are some of the dresses we touched on in this week’s show…
Shelley our favorite Milf/Gilf was out west helping prepare the nursery for her new grandchild. Shauna and I decided to take her advice to ” get up off the couch” and work out, training for the University of Chicago Comer Children’s Hospital 5k. Shelley will handily kick our butts. It’s not too late to register for the race and join us!
